Despite its record-breaking performance on the streaming charts, and despite strong support from its fans, Suits is going into mothballs, say its creators.

“Let me say right off that there is no Suits reboot or anything in the works, creator Aaron Korsh tweeted. “Strike would have to end, some network or streamer would have to reach out and then we would have to collectively want to.

Which is no small thing…”

The show’s first eight seasons were recently picked up by Netflix, and its full nine-season run by Peacock. It quickly outran its competitors as it rocketed to the top of the domestic streaming charts. The reruns broke Nielsen and other records, racking up some 18 billion minutes of viewing time during the month of July alone.



But executive producer Gene Klein joked that “in this era of reboots and reunions,” anything is on the table. He was quoted as saying, “It’s just one of those things where, in this day and age, you wouldn’t be surprised if somebody called you someday.”

Klein added, “It was a complicated dance keeping everybody involved, getting all the actors’ deals done and keeping them involved through the end of the show. I’d be surprised if we could thread that needle for a reunion, but I’d also be delighted if that happened because [when] you do a show for that long, everybody becomes such a good friend.”

Suits was a popular legal drama that ran from 2011 to 2018 on the USA Network. In a plot faintly reminiscent of the 60s hit How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, the Suits series narrated the machinations of a college dropout who manipulated his way into a high-profile position at a prestigious New York law firm.

One of the most recognizable cast members in the show’s first seven seasons was Meghan Markle, whose recent marriage to Prince Harry effectively put an end to speculation that she might reappear in the role of Rachel Zane if a reboot ever happens.
