George Clooney and Brad Pitt are reportedly prepping for their roles in Ocean’s 14, a forthcoming film by Warner Bros. and Smokehouse that may be directed by Edward Berger.
As Mike Fleming, Jr. wrote in Deadline this week: “While insiders have said it’s early and Berger doesn’t even have an offer (he’s juggling several of them), I am persuaded this one has some teeth. And I would expect for The Instigators co-stars Matt Damon, Casey Affleck, and the rest of the ensemble will be back in the fold.”

Edward Berger is noted for his acclaimed direction of All Quiet on the Western Front, a 2022 picture that was nominated for Best Picture at the 95th Academy Awards. His latest film, Conclave, had its recent premiere at the Telluride Film Festival and will be released in the U.S. on November 1 of this year. Dealing with the intrigue surrounding a papal election, Conclave’s cast includes Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, and Isabella Rossellini.

 

The original Ocean’s 11 film, directed by Lewis Milestone and starring the Rat Pack quartet of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and Peter Lawford, made its splashy debut in 1960. In 2001, Steven Soderbergh remade Ocean’s 11, in which Clooney and Pitt were joined by Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia, Casey Affleck, and Carl Reiner, among others. Soderbergh also directed two sequels—Ocean’s 12 and Ocean’s 13—and Gary Ross directed a spinoff titled Ocean’s 8. As if that weren’t enough, there’s another yet-untitled prequel film to Ocean’s 14, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, that’s being directed by Jay Roach.

In December of 2023, George Clooney hinted at the possibility of a new installment when he told Uproxx: “We have a really good script for another Ocean’s now, so we may end up doing another one. It’s actually a great script.”
