Kim Kardashian will be joining the cast of FX’s American Horror Story, starring with Emma Roberts in the show’s upcoming twelfth season.
As the series co-creator Ryan Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter this week: “Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family. Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture. Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish and ultimately terrifying role especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done.”
Murphy, who is a personal friend of Kardashian, was reportedly highly impressed with the star’s appearance as a host on Saturday Night Live. No further details about the upcoming production have been released, other than a teaser posted on Kardashian’s Instagram account as well as that of Ryan Murphy Productions. The posting depicted the phrase “Emma and Kim are delicate” as “Rock-a-Bye Baby” played in the background.
“Delicate” is the title given to the new series, which is based partly on the soon-to-be-published novel Delicate Condition, by Danielle Valentine. A cover blurb calls the novel “the feminist update to Rosemary’s Baby we all needed.”
Earlier installments in the series had included starring performances by Jessica Lange in season one and Lady Gaga in season five. Emma Roberts had been part of the American Horror Story rotating cast since 2013, with Coven. She also appeared in AHS’s Freak Show, Cult, Apocalypse, and 1984. Scriptwriter Feiffer’s credits include Dear Edward, Roar, Kidding, and Impeachment: American Crime Story.
Shooting for the new Delicate season will begin later this month in New York City, with the show expected to debut this summer. AHS has earned 13 Emmy Primetime Awards out of more than 100 nominations. As of November 2022, some 123 episodes have been aired since its FX premiere on October 5, 2011.
