According to the Deadline, screenwriter Linda Woolverton is writing the third installment of Maleficent.

It was also mentioned that she will be the executive producer of a “Winnie the Pooh” series. “Beauty and the Beast“, “The Lion King“, “Alice in Wonderland“, and the first two “Maleficent” films were written by Wolverinen, who is recognized for his screenwriting talents.

“The opportunity to reimagine “Winnie-the-Pooh“ for a new generation is truly an honor,” said Woolverton, who was most recently a producer on Netflix movie “Spellbound“ and is a writer on “Maleficent 3“. “These beloved stories hold a special place in so many hearts, including my own. I’m excited to craft fresh narratives that capture the warmth, charm, humor, and gentle wisdom, of the Hundred Acre Wood while introducing new layers of storytelling, celebrating the neurodiversity amidst these most special characters.”

The last time we’ve seen Jolie’s take on Maleficent was back in 2019 with her sequel film “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil“ directed by Joachim Rønning and co-written by Woolverton, Noah Harpster, and Micah Fitzerman-Blue. In December 2023, Angelina Jolie confirmed her intention to return as the iconic Disney villain.

“Maleficent 3“ has been in development for years but no director has been attached yet. We expect that to change soon.
