Netflix’s One Piece Live Action Season 2 Reveals Casting for Robin and Crocodile

Joe Manganiello and Lera Abova will reportedly be joining the second-season cast of Netflix’s One Piece. The next installment of the production, which is a live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga series about the Straw Hat pirates, is already being shot in South Africa. It is expected to be released sometime during 2025.

Jamie Lee Curtis, however, will not be appearing in the role of Dr. Kureha, despite the earlier comment by co-showrunner Matt Owens that “at this point we’re writing for her.” Instead, Katey Sagal will be playing that character.

Manganiello, who is known for his role in True Blood, will be portraying the character of Mr. O (aka Crocodile), one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea and the top gun in the Baroque Works syndicate. He had earlier played the role of Flash Thompson in the 2002 Spider-Man film as well as his roles in the Magic Mike series and How I Met Your Mother.

Abova, who will play the role Miss All Sunday (aka Nico Robin), will also be joining the cast She is known for her performances in Good Side of a Bad Man, Exterritorial, and Anna.

Also returning for season two are many familiar faces from One Piece’s first season, including Inaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffey, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. In addition to newcomers Manganello and Abova, Season 2 will also feature Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday/Princess Vivi, Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefertati Cobra, Katey Sagal as Dr. Kureha, David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine, Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, Werner Coetser as Dorry, Brendan Murray as Brogy, Clive Russell as Crocus, Callum Kerr as Smoker, Julia Rehwald as Tashigi, Rob Colletti as Wapol, Ty Keogh as Dalton, and Mark Harelik as Dr. Hiriluk.

One Piece had its premiere in August of 2023 and became Netflix’s most popular series in the second half of that year. Showrunners and executive producers for the second season will be Matt Owens and Joe Tracz. Steven Maeda, who was also a showrunner in 2023, will also be an executive producer for the upcoming season.
