Based on articles from Comicbook.com and Independent, it looks like South Korean actor Park Seo Joon is the latest addition to the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film The Marvels. The actor previously made a cameo in the Oscar-winning South Korean film Parasite and a popular Netflix series, Itaewon Class, currently filming Concrete Utopia, which should free him up later this year to come to the United States to make the next big Marvel movie.
The Marvels is the sequel to Captain Marvel, the powerhouse debut of the title character played by Brie Larson. Joining Larson in the highly-anticipated sequel is Teyonah Parris, who made a distinct impression on fans as Monica Rambeau in the Disney Plus limited series WandaVision. Inman Vellani is also a member of the cast, portraying villain Kamala Khan.
Thirty-one-year-old filmmaker Nia DaCosta is slated to direct. The film currently has a release date of November 11th, 2022.
Seo-Joon’s casting news has yet to be confirmed, with his agency replying “no comment.” This helps add more international and specifically Asian representation to the MCU after Ma Dong Seok, another Korean actor, was cast in Eternals, a film that is already set to star Gemma Chan, whose family is from Hong Kong and China, in the lead role.
