Ahead of the 80th Venice International Film Festival this Sunday, September 3, 2023., David Fincher’s latest outing “The Killer” has released its first official poster via The Fincher Analyst.
“The Killer” is David Fincher’s latest collaboration with Netflix after the award-winning Mindhunter series and the Oscar-winning biopic Mank.
The film is based on a graphic novel by Alexis Nolent and Luc Jacamon. It tells the tale of an assassin played by Michael Fassbender, who starts to question his sanity as he awaits his latest target. The poster revealed that Fassbender is seen wearing a distinctive rimmed hat, a Hawaiian shirt, and a blazer, offering a glimpse into his character’s appearance.
This project has been on Fincher’s radar since 2007 when it was initially set up at Paramount before finally starting filming in November 2021. The project marks Fassbender’s return to the screen after having not starred in a released film since “Dark Phoenix” back in 2019. He’s also got Taika Waititi’s “Next Goal Wins” coming out one week after this is released.
Filming on the project took place in Los Angeles, Paris, New Orleans, Chicago, and the Dominican Republic.
Besides Fassbender, Tilda Swinton, Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell, and Sophie Charlotte also star, It’s been written by Seven screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker and features Mank cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt collaborating with Fincher once again. Pleasingly, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are on soundtrack duties for Fincher again as well.
“The Killer” is set to release in select theaters in October ahead of its Netflix streaming premiere on November 10th.
