In an Instagram posting, Vin Diesel has announced the April 4, 2025 will be the release date for Fast X Part 2, the next installment in the Fast and Furious franchise.
According to Diesel, the upcoming movie will be the first of a two-part series, but the actor hinted that a third episode might be forthcoming. It had been announced earlier that Fast X director Louis Leterrier would be returning to direct Part 2 according to a script written by Christina Hodson and Oron Uziel.
As Diesel pointed out in his posting: “For those who didn’t know the Fast X was just part one, know that part two is going to be an effort from our fast family and studio like you have never seen.” The actor also lauded his co-star Jason Momoa by writing “Jason wanted to try something totally unique and special and ended up creating a scene stealing character that the world won’t forget.”
Diesel’s Instagram posting included a picture of himself chatting with Momoa with the teaser: .”April 4th 2025… is less than 22 months away. I love how expressive and collaborative all of the actors in our franchise feel coming into the World’s Saga.
He concluded “Thank you all for showing up like you always do… 7 billion means nothing if it doesn’t represent the true feeling of family and loyalty.”
In an Instagram posting of his own, Diesel’s Fast & Furious co-star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson made the surprise announcement that he’d be returning to the franchise. He wrote that he would be reprising his role as Luke Hobbs in a spinoff movie that would “serve as a fresh, new chapter and set up for Fast X: Part II.”
Vin Diesel had played the role of Dominic Toretto in the franchise. He first gained recognition in the mid-1990s appearing in Multi-Facial and Strays, two films that he also wrote and directed. As a result, Steven Spielberg tapped Diesel to appear in his 1998 war epic Saving Private Ryan. In addition to the Fast & Furious films, the actor also appeared in The Chronicles of Riddick franchise.
