Vin Diesel Reveals New Official Title For ‘Fast & Furious 10’ as Production Begins

The Fast and the Furious franchise star, Vin Diesel announced the official title for the series’ upcoming tenth installment today on Instagram. The actor, who also serves as a producer on the movies, shared that Fast & Furious 10 will be formally known as Fast X, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Diesel also revealed on his Instagram account that production on the franchise’s ninth sequel has begun. Along with the announcement, he also debuted a photo of the action film’s title logo, which uses the iconic Fast font over a giant X, which mimics a car’s headlights. He captioned the logo as “Day one…” to signify that Fast X has officially begun shooting.

Returning series filmmaker, Justin Lin, who helmed five of the franchise’s previous entries – including F9, Fast & Furious 6, Fast Five, Fast & Furious and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift – will direct Fast X. He’s also set to produce Fast X with Diesel.

Details about the plot for the upcoming drama haven’t yet been revealed. However, several of the franchise’s returning stars, including Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and Sung Kang, are set to star alongside Diesel in the next movie. Fast X will also feature several actors and actresses who are new to the series, including Daniela Melchior, Brie Larson and Jason Momoa, who will reportedly serve as one of the ninth follow-up’s main villains.

The franchise’s distributor, Universal Pictures, is set to release Fast X on May 19, 2023. The Fast and the Furious is one of the studio’s biggest series of all time; its first nine installments have collectively grossed over $6.6 billion worldwide.

Fast X is expected to be the first of a two-part finale to the The Fast and the Furious‘ main storyline. The upcoming film is set to shoot back-to-back with the original franchise’s final entry.

Both movies were written by Chris Morgan, who also penned the third through eighth installments, as well as the series’ first feature spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw. Following the release of Fast X‘s successor, the franchise is expected to continue with several more spinoffs.
