Film auteur Wes Anderson is set to begin filming his next movie in Spain in September, and has cast Tilda Swinton in the project, Variety is reporting. The Academy Award-winning actress revealed that she will star in the feature, as well as the location of the shoot, during a recent interview with the trade publication.
The Golden Globe-nominated performer added that while the upcoming film will be shot in the European country, “it’s not about Spain.
” Swinton was unable to elaborate further about the upcoming movie’s plot, as specific details are being kept closely under wraps. During his own interview with Variety, Anderson said he’s “not ready to share any details” about the feature.
The new project, which was originally going to be shoot in Rome, moved its production to Spain earlier this year. Sets that are already being built for the film in Chinchón, a small town located southeast of Madrid, resemble a desert landscape, Spanish outlet El Pais also reported. However, the movie isn’t believed to be a Western.
The upcoming feature will be the fifth collaboration between the Oscar-nominated writer-director-producer and the BAFTA Award-winning actress.
The duo previously worked together on The French Dispatch, The Isle of Dogs, The Grand Budapest Hotel and Moonrise Kingdom.
The news of Anderson and Swinton’s latest reunion comes after it was announced that the two will be attending the Cannes Film Festival in person next week, where their most recent project, The French Dispatch, will play in competition. The comedic drama was originally scheduled to play during Cannes last year, but was put on hold after the festival was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie is set to be officially released on October 22 by Searchlight Pictures.
