Searchlight Pictures has dropped a new trailer for  highly anticipated new film, A Complete Unknown.

Timothée Chalamet performs Dylan’s songs and grumbles as if it were his own in the new official trailer for James Mangold’s A Complete Unknown. The clip charts Dylan’s rise to international fame during the West Village era, and highlights all the high points of the near-mythological story.

The arrival from Minnesota, the initial romance (Suze Rotolo in real life, now known as Sylvie Russo and played by Elle Fanning), the flirting with Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro), and the encounter with Newport Folkies angry over his electric move.

Chalamet performs a decent Dylan performance in clips, with the first clip being the gentle “Girl From The North Country” and the second being the rollicking “Like A Rolling Stone.”

The synopsis: “New York, early 1960s. Against the backdrop of a vibrant music scene and tumultuous cultural upheaval, an enigmatic 19-year-old from Minnesota arrives in the West Village with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music. As he forms his most intimate relationships during his rise to fame, he grows restless with the folk movement and, refusing to be defined, makes a controversial choice that culturally reverberates worldwide.”

Directed by Mangold, A Complete Unknown is written by Mangold and Jay Cocks, produced by Fred Berger, Alex Heineman, Bob Bookman, Peter Jaysen, Alan Gasmer, Jeff Rosen, Timothée Chalamet & James Mangold.

In addition to Chalamet as Dylan, the film also stars Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, Dan Fogler, Norbert Leo Butz, Eriko Hatsune, Big Bill Morgenfield, Will Harrison, and Scoot McNairy

Original motion picture soundtrack forthcoming on Columbia Records

A Complete Unknown from Searchlight Pictures hits theaters December 25, 2024.
