Junichi Yasuda’s “A Samurai in Time” film, which won the Best Picture award at the 48th Japan Academy Film Awards and was released in August, is set to have 6 episodes spin-off series, according to reports. The filming for “Shinpai-Muyounosuke: Tenka Gomen” will start next spring, and it will be broadcast on BS-TBS in July.
The spin-off series is centered around the character “Shinpai-Muyounosuke: Tenka Gomen,” who was famous for saying ‘No need to worry!’ when facing the main character, Shinzaemon Kosaka (portrayed by Makiya Yamaguchi). Tsutomu Tamura reprises the role he played in the movie. The project will be directed by Director Yasuda, and actress Yuno Sakura, who played a new assistant director in the film, will return to the same character.
Filming is scheduled to take place at Toei Uzumasa Movie Village, which will reopen on March 28, next year. Visitors can take photos and videos and share them on social media when the site is open to the public.
The movie “A Samurai in Time” has gained popularity through word-of-mouth and has since been released at Cinema Rosa 1 in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, has expanded to over 300 theaters nationwide. The revenue generated at the box office surpassed 1 billion yen.(Equivalent to 10 million dollars, with currency 6.6 million dollars), it was honored with more than 20 film awards, with the Best Picture prize being awarded at the 48th Japan Academy Film Prize, which is considered the pinnacle of Japanese cinema.
