The movie that Donald Trump doesn’t want people to see is still being prepared for a release before the election in the U.S. A release date for The Apprentice has been set、Briarcliff Entertainment has acquired the United States distribution rights to the film. It will now hit theaters on October 11, 2024.

The Apprentice, a new biopic movie directed by Ali Abbasi, has Sebastian Stan playing a younger Donald Trump. The movie had its premiere at the 77th Cannes Film Festival in May.

Dan Snyder, a billionaire, donated an undisclosed amount of money through his Kinematics company in the belief that The Apprentice would portray Trump in a favorable light. The purchase of Kinematics’s interest in the film allowed the Briarcliff deal to proceed, as stated in The Hollywood Reporter’s article. In May 2024, Trump’s legal team sent a cease and desist letter to The Apprentice creators to prevent its release.

Besides Stan, The Apprentice also stars Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn, Maria Bakalova as Ivana Trump, Martin Donovan as Fred Trump, Ben Sullivan as Russell Eldridge, Charlie Carrick as Fred Trump Jr., Mark Rendall as Daniel Sullivan, and Joe Pingue as Anthony Salerno.

Daniel Bekerman, Jacob Jarek, Ruth Treacy, Julianne Forde, Abbasi, and Louis Tisné serve as producers on the movie. Executive producers include Amy Baer, Mark H. Rapaport, Emanuel Nunez, Phil Hunt, Compton Ross, Thorsten Schumacher, Levi Woodward, Niamh Fagan, Gabriel Sherman, Greg Denny, James Shani, Noor Alfallah, Andy Cohen, Andrew Frank, Neil Mathieson, Lee Broda, Blair Ward, Anders Erdén.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Kinematics’ interest in the film was bought out by Apprentice producer James Shani, whose company Rich Spirit is among the film’s other backers, and Rich Spirit and Briarcliff will partner on the theatrical release.

The film is expected to screen at various film festivals this fall prior to its nationwide release and an awards campaign is currently being organized.
