A few days after several crew members left the South Carolina set of Jonathan Majors‘ upcoming untitled action film, further information about the safety concerns that caused the strike has surfaced.

According to the Deadline report, IATSE(International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees)called for a strike against production on March 26 following a series of labor issues. It is our understanding that the union made an initial attempt to sign a contract with the production to secure payment for its health and pension funds. Safety concerns escalated over the past five weeks of production, making matters more serious.

Producers have not denied any of the allegations below, but when contacted by Deadline to comment, they said they are not interested in negotiating with communists. Deadline spoke to multiple crew members who have since discontinued their involvement in the production and reported that the strike effort gained momentum at the start of last week, following the accidental fall of Majors and co-star JC Kilcoyne out of a window during filming. Deadline captured the incident on video.

Multiple sources have confirmed to Deadline that the accident took place after the window was replaced with an unsafe sheet of tempered glass, which was intentionally broken in a later stunt without any actors involved.

The tempered glass was loosely placed in the window, causing the actors and sheet of glass to fall approximately six feet to the ground. According to sources who have knowledge of the incident, Kilcoyne required stitches on all of his hands after the incident.

While that seems to have been the inciting event for the strike, crew members who walked off the job tell Deadline that it was just the tip of the iceberg in terms of their concerns. Multiple workers corroborated incidents involving props falling onto crew, including a rigged tree branch that hit the set medic.
