It’s impossible to find a comic book where Kraven, the Spider-Man foe, is portrayed in a heroic light. So it’s evident that he won’t be receiving the heroic treatment in Sony Pictures’ Kraven the Hunter movie this December.
Sony Pictures released a newly released featurette which shows his sinister side as we see Aaron Taylor-Johnson‘s Kraven hunting down his targets. Kraven the Hunter is a standalone story, the same branding given to Madame Web earlier this year. That implies that it takes place in a unique reality instead of the world shared by Venom, Morbius, and Earth-616’s Vulture.
Here’s what the synopsis describes, Kraven the Hunter is the action-packed, R-rated, standalone story of how one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Kraven, a man whose complex relationship with his ruthless gangster father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), starts him down a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to become not only the greatest hunter in the world, but also one of its most feared.
What this featurette presenting here isn’t a single implication of Spider-Man or any superpowered-related things going on here..) or simply what filmmaker J.C. Chandor wants to have a different approach and reinvent the Kraven the Hunter.
The film is directed by J.C. Chandor, written by Richard Wenk and Art Marcum & Matt Holloway based on a story by Richard Wenk. Produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, David Householter. Besides Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the film also stars, Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, Alessandro Nivola, Christopher Abbott, and Russell Crowe.
