Searchlight Pictures has announced the new trailer for “O’Dessa,” a post-apocalyptic musical drama film by Geremy Jasper, which is set to be released in 2019. The film stars Sadie Sink, Regina Hall, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Pokey LaFarge, and Murray Bartlett. “O’Dessa” is scheduled to be released by Searchlight Pictures on Hulu on March 13, 2025.

In the post-apocalyptic future, a farm girl embarks on a journey to retrieve a family heirloom and rescue her one true love. In the trailer, Sadie Sink is using her guitar and singing voice to transform the wasteland.

Sink’s character is depicted both in her farm girl beginnings and her quest through a cyberpunk-inspired post-apocalyptic city, ruled by a sadistic entertainment mogul (Murray Bartlett) in a colorful first look at the musical.

Geremy Jasper serves as writer-director and wrote the film’s music with Jason Binnick. Michael Gottwald and Noah Stahl are producers.

“There was this moment where I was just like, ‘Oh my God. I can’t believe I said yes to this. Fuck. What am I doing?!’” Sink said about signing on for “O’Dessa,” speaking to Variety for a Power of Young Hollywood cover last August.

“I would sing a song, and no one else would really know that I’m freaking out on the inside, but in my own head, it’s like, ‘Oh, that’s not my voice. That’s not how I can sing this song.’ … There were some days where it was harder than others. But sometimes, it was like, ‘I feel completely fearless right now, and I’m singing in front of a lot of people!’”

O’Dessa” will have its world premiere on March 8 at SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas.
