Peacock has dropped a new trailer for their upcoming spy series “PONIES,” David Iserson (“Mr. Robot,” “New Girl“) and Susanna Fogel (“The Flight Attendant,” “The Spy Who Dumped Me“) are the creators and showrunners of this new show. The story revolves around a pair of women who took on spy roles after their husbands were killed in the USSR during the Cold War and volunteered to assist the CIA, while they strive to uncover the mystery surrounding their loved ones’ demise.
Moscow, 1977. Two “PONIES” (“persons of no interest” in intelligence speak) work anonymously as secretaries in the American Embassy. That is, until their husbands are killed under mysterious circumstances in the USSR, and the pair become CIA operatives.
Bea (Emilia Clarke) is the child of a Soviet immigrant who has a lot of education and can speak Russian. As a small-town girl, Twila (Haley Lu Richardson) is equally as abrasive and fearless as her co-worker. They work together to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that led to their widowhood in the first place.
Along with Clarke and others from Black Mirror, Station Eleven, and Dirty John, Mike Daniels is also involved as a showrunner and executive producer on “PONIES“, with co-executive producers like Katherine Bridle, Alison Mo Massey, Jared Ian Goldman, and Rosa Handelman.
