GKIDS has unveiled new trailer for The Colors Within for the upcoming U.S. release of the coming-of-age music, anime movie about three students who find friendship after forming a band together.
The film is directed by Naoko Yamada (A Silent Voice) from a screenplay written by Reiko Yoshida (Violet Evergarden), with kensuke ushio (Chainsaw Man) composing the score.
“Totsuko is a high school student with the ability to see the ‘colors’ of others. Colors of bliss, excitement, and serenity, plus a color she treasures as her favorite. Kimi, a classmate at her school, gives off the most beautiful color of all,” reads the official synopsis.
“Although she doesn’t play an instrument, Totsuko forms a band with Kimi and Rui, a quiet music enthusiast they meet at a used bookstore in a far corner of town. As they practice at an old church on a remote island, music brings them together, forming friendships and stirring affections. Will they discover their true ‘colors’?”
The Color Within (Kimi no iro) is scheduled to arrive in U.S. theaters starting on December 13 in Los Angeles, followed by its nationwide release on January 13, 2025. This comes after the anime film had its world premiere at the recent Annecy International Film Festival.
The creative team includes animation director and character designer Takashi Kojima. It is a production by Scienece Saru (Scott Pilgrim Takes Off) and Story inc. (Your Name, Weathering With You, Suzume). It is produced by Genki Kawamura (Your Name).
Naoko Yamada, a director who has earned high phrase from Your Name and Suzume director Makoto Shinkai.
