Lionsgate’s “The Housemaid” has officially released the first trailer, Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, and Michele Morrone will be cast in the movie that was directed and written by Paul Feig.

The Housemaid is an adaptation of Frieda McFadden’s 2022 novel of the same title, in which Millie (Sweeney) finds herself working as a housekeeper for the wealthy Winchester family. After a short period in jail, Millie works diligently inside the family’s house to gain her footing and become closer to the married couple. As she becomes more familiar with the Winchesters, she soon discovers the hidden secrets behind the family’s perfect facade, and begins to unravel the dark secrets that lie behind their decadence.

During the film’s trailer announcement at Cinema Conn earlier this year, Feig stressed the significance of creating a dark psychological thriller for the big screen. ‘It was a dream come true,’ he said.

Sweeney spoke about her excitement about working on the film adaptation as a fan of McFadden’s novel. “I could not put [“The Housemaid“] down. I ended up reading all three in one week. There’s characters that are flawed, and they are messy.” Sweeney expressed her enthusiasm for working on the film adaptation, having read McFadden’s novel many times. ‘I couldn’t put [‘The Housemaid’] down. I ended up reading all three in one week. There are characters who are flawed and messy.’

The Housemaid” is produced by Todd Lieberman for Hidden Pictures. Feig and Laura Fischer will also serve as producers on the film. “The Housemaid” hits theaters on Dec. 19. Check out the trailer below.
