Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl has debuted its first trailer from Roadside Attractions, and the question is what it is all about if you stay in Vegas for long time.
Pamela Anderson and Shelley, who star in the film, find themselves in a crossroads with their stage production on its last legs, amidst the backdrop of Sin City.
Besides Anderson, the film also stars Kiernan Shipka, Brenda Song, Billie Lourd, Dave Bautista and Jamie Lee Curtis also star.
Our Cinema Daily US writer, Niclas Goldberg praised Anderson’s performance in his review, “Pamela Anderson Stuns in the role of a Lifetime!” Curtis portrays a waitress and friend to Anderson’s character, delivering an outstanding performance. Bautista portrays Shelley’s manager and ex-lover, who informs about her career’s demise.
At the Toronto International Film Festival in September, The Last Showgirl had its premiere and received positive reviews, leading Anderson to become a potential candidate for this year’s best actress Oscar race. The film will have a limited L.A. release on Dec. 13 as part of an award-qualifying run by Roadside.
Directed by Gia Coppola, written by Kate Gersten, the film is produced by Robert Schwartzman, Natalie Farrey and Gia Coppola and features a new original song “Beautiful That Way,” sung by pop superstar Miley Cyrus, produced by Academy Award nominee Andrew Wyatt and written by Wyatt, Cyrus and Lykke Li.
The film marks Anderson’s first return to the big screen since the reboot of Baywatch. At the TIFF press conference in September, she addressed her career and said, “A lot of my career was about physicality and it’s been a journey, but it’s also been part of the reason why I’ve kind of done this experiment with myself with just, you know, peeling it all back, remembering who I am not being defined by what people do to me, but by what I do.”
