A24 has released a new featurette about the making of Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland‘s “Warfare“, which is scheduled to be released in cinemas shortly.

Mendoza is an Iraq War veteran who served as the military supervisor on Garland’s controversial 2024 title “Civil War“, which was released by A24 last year and caused much discussion.

The film stars Charles Melton, Joseph Quinn, Kit Connor, Cosmo Jarvis, Will Poulter, Finn Bennett, Noah Centineo, Taylor John Smith, Adain Bradley, Michael Gandolfini, Henrique Zaga, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai and Evan Holtzman.

In the film, a platoon of American Navy SEALs are shown in the Iraqi family’s house, supervising the movement of US forces through insurgent territory.

The project is described as a ‘visceral, boots-on-the-ground story’ that is told in real-time and is based on the recollections of those who were present.

Melton explains that the cast and crew underwent an extreme boot camp to truly develop the Navy SEAL culture. While creating this project, Garland stated that the entire cast and crew, including himself, felt a strong sense of responsibility. “Warfare” will be released in United States cinemas on April 11th.
