There’s a famous saying that you can’t pick your family, but in the case of actor, comedian, and game show host Wayne Brady, he actually did put together his own blended family. Brady has been a television mainstay for over two decades, having his own talk show before becoming a regular on Whose Line Is It Anyway? and hosting the long-running game show, Let’s Make a Deal. Brady has also appeared a number of times on Broadway, as well as in the touring troupe for Hamilton.
Not a lot of people know about Brady off-camera or about his immediate family, something that will be rectified by the new Freeform reality series, Wayne Brady: The Family Remix, which allows Brady to introduce the family he’s created with ex-wife Mandie Taketa, their 20-year-old daughter Maile, and Mandie’s new husband and Wayne’s former back-up dancer, Jason Michael Fordman. Brady is partially using this new show to let the world know about his coming out as pansexual, but he also has other secrets to share, which he does over the course of the eight episodes, while going through his extremely busy work life.
Cinema Daily US spoke with Brady, Mandie, Maile and Jason earlier this week to find out why they wanted to live their lives in front of the cameras for a show that shares a very different take on family from the reality classic, The Osbournes or the more recent The Kardashians.
