Searchlight Pictures has given a preview of the first trailer for “Is This Thing On?” which directed by Bradley Cooper.

Here’s the synopsis of the film : “As their marriage quietly unravels, Alex (Will Arnett) faces middle age and an impending divorce, seeking a new purpose in the New York comedy scene while Tess (Laura Dern) confronts the sacrifices she made for their family — forcing them to navigate co-parenting, identity, and whether love can take a new form.”

The film, which is scheduled to be released on December 19, will be presented at the New York Film Festival’s closing-night movie on October 10 at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall.

Cooper expressed his gratitude to the creative team for presenting the film at NYFF, which serves as the city’s backdrop. “NYC brings an energy to filmmaking that is unmatched,” he added.

The film also istars Cooper, Andra Day, Amy Sedaris, Sean Hayes, Christine Ebersole, Ciarán Hinds and Scott Icenogle. The project is produced by Weston Middleton, Kris Thykier, Cooper and Arnett, Arnett also co-wrote the script with Mark Chappell.

British comic John Bishop inspired the movie’s story, and the comedian will be executive producing.
