Netflix has dropped a new trailer for the investigative journalism drama Scoop starring The X-Files Gillian Anderson.
The feature goes into the story of how The BBC’s Newsnight program obtained November 2019’s bombshell interview with Prince Andrew which went into his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Here’s the longline of the film, The inside track of the women that broke through the Buckingham Palace establishment to secure the scoop of the decade that led to the catastrophic fall from grace of The Queen’s ‘Favourite son’. From navigating Palace vetoes, to breaking through to Prince Andrew’s inner circle, the high stakes negotiations and intensity of rehearsal – to the jaw dropping interview itself.
SCOOP is the insider account of the inner workings of the Palace and the BBC, twin bastions of the British Establishment, spotlighting the journalists whose tenacity and guts broke through the highest of ceilings – and into the inner sanctum and calculations of a man with everything to lose.
The project tackles an inside account of the journalism that landed the shocking interview which had such an impact that Andrew was banished from royal duties.
The streamer has released the first trailer for “Scoop,” its feature-length dramatization of Prince Andrew‘s toe-curling interview with Newsnight anchor Emily Maitlis(Played by Gillian Anderson), Andrew is played by “The Diplomat” star Rufus Sewell, Billie Piper stars as Sam McAlister, the Newsnight producer who secured the interview with Andrew.
Sam McAlister is the BAFTA nominated Producer who negotiated many of the Newsnight seminal exclusives that shaped and captivated public conversation over the past decade. A trained criminal defence barrister, and ‘Booker Extraordinaire’ she has had a backstage pass to the most unforgettable journalism of our times.
