The Finnish action film Sisu became a huge hit online in 2023 due to its relentless, high-octane action sequences and the concept of imagining John Wick killing Nazis in World War II. The man who refuses to die is back in “Sisu: Road to Revenge,” which promises even more insane wall-to-wall action next time around.
In Sisu: Road to Revenge, Jorma Tommila returns to play Aatami Korpi, an actor who returns home to Finland after World War II to discover his family was brutally murdered by the Red Army. Aatami dismantles his home, loads it onto a truck, and aims to reconstruct it elsewhere. When Yeagor (Stephen Lang), the Red Army commander who killed them, returns looking to finish the job, Aatami is forced to outsmart and out-kill his enemies at every turn in this cross-country chase.
If you’ve been into action movies for a while, honestly, you’ve eaten well for the past decade or so. One cinematic one-man-army, even though it is not as well-known as John Wick and Nobody, is still a mythic phenomenon that is waiting to be discovered by a larger audience of adrenaline junkies.
Here’s the official synopsis: “Returning to the house where his family was brutally murdered during the war, ‘the man who refuses to die’ dismantles it, loads it on a truck, and is determined to rebuild it somewhere safe in their honour. When the Red Army commander who killed his family comes back hellbent on finishing the job, a relentless, eye-popping cross-country chase ensues – a fight to the death, full of clever, unbelievable action set pieces.”
“Sisu: Road To Revenge“ will be painting UK cinemas red on 21 November.
