During CinemaCon on Saturday, Tron: Ares debuted the poster and first trailer for the upcoming installment, following the seminal Disney sci-fi classic “Tron“ (1982) and “Tron: Legacy“ (2010).
Jared Leto leads the film, which includes original star Jeff Bridges back as Kevin Flynn. Leto plays Ares, one of the programs from the digital universe who is tasked to enter the real world. Evan Peters, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, Sarah Desjardins, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and Gillian Anderson are among the stars who will be appearing in the film.
In the trailer, we see how our reality meets the video game world of Tron. The story begins with a high-speed chase between the police and some rogue programs. However, the police cars are no match for the light cycle, which cuts one of them in half when its iconic light wall is activated. Even though Kevin Flynn from Bridges is not present, his voice can still be heard at the end of the trailer.

“It’s really unbelievable to think we made the original in 1982,” Bridges said on stage when “Tron: Ares” was unveiled during the 2024 D23 Expo. “It’s amazing — we never thought we would have this legacy that’s continued on all these years.”
At D23, it was revealed that Nine Inch Nails, a band known for industrial rock and electronic music formed by Trent Reznor and featuring Atticus Ross as a frequent collaborator, will be scoring the film. Reznor and Ross have garnered Oscars and Grammys for their soundtracks to 2010’s “The Social Network” and 2020’s “Soul“. Their most recent work was scoring Luca Guadagnino’s hit tennis film, “Challengers“.
“Tron: Ares” hits theaters Oct. 10.
