Korean Series ‘Moving’ Sets Streaming Records on Disney+ and Hulu

Based on streaming statistics released this week, Moving has set a record as being the most-watched Korean original series on Disney+ globally and on Hulu in the United States.
The 20-episode series, based on a webtoon by Kang Full, began streaming on August 9.

Moving stars three teenagers—Ryu Seungryong, Hang Hyojoo, and Zo Insung—who have been endowed with superhuman powers by their parents, who are secret agents. The story line focuses on how the parents try to prevent their children from malefactors intent on harming the trio. Produced by Studio&New, Moving is directed by Park In-je and Park Younseo.

The actors portraying the three teenagers are household names in Korea. Ryu Seungryong has appeared in The Good Bad Mother and Life is Beautiful; Han Hyojoo in 20th Century Girl, The Pirates, and The Last Royal Treasure; and Zo Insung in Smugglers and The King.

Han Hyojoo was recently quoted as saying, “I have met many good people through Moving, and I am honored to share the wonderful worldview of writer Kang Full. Perhaps this will be a drama of a genre that has not been seen in Korea until now. I will do my best, so I hope you will show a lot of interest.”

Carol Choi, who is the executive VP of original content strategy at The Walt Disney Company APAC, was quoted as saying that “The global consumer response towards the first 11 episodes of Moving has exceeded our expectations. From the U.S. to all across APAC, it is fast becoming a breakout hit with its captivating storyline, world-class cast and incredible post-production effects — all coming together to deliver exceptional storytelling.”

In addition to Moving, Disney+ also offers other popular Korean content, including Big Bet, The Zone, Survival Mission, and Soundtrack #1, a music-oriented romantic program. Big Bet, which won a Blue Dragon Series Award, features Choi Minsik as a criminal casino entrepreneur.

As of this week, eleven episodes of Moving have already been streamed. The remaining nine episodes will air on upcoming Wednesdays, with a three-part finale scheduled for September 20.
