Actress Tessa Thompson can expect a lot of rich material from Amazon MGM Studio’s new trailer for “Hedda” as she steps into the role of Hedda. Imogen Poots, Tom Bateman, Nicholas Pinnock, and Nina Hoss are all collaborating with the actress.

A provocative, modern interpretation of Henrik Ibsen’s classic play is brought to you by writer/director Nia DaCosta. Hedda (Tessa Thompson) is struggling with the lingering pain of a past love and the quiet suffocation of her current life. During a tense night, her long-repressed desires and hidden tensions burst out, leading her and everyone around her to a spiral of manipulation, passion, and betrayal.

A fall festival season would not be complete without some cinematic adaptations of classic works of theater, and none is more captivating this year than Hedda from Nia DaCosta. Since the release of “Little Woods” in 2018, DaCosta has primarily directed franchises, including the 2021 ‘Candyman’ sequel and the comic book crossover ‘The Marvels’.

Next on her project is “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,” which will serve as the second entry in a new trilogy that began with Danny Boyle’s “28 Years Later.”

Hedda” will have its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. Afterwards, Amazon MGM will release the film in select theaters on Wednesday, October 22 and then globally on Prime Video on Wednesday, October 29.
