Acclaimed horror auteur, Mike Flanagan is continuing his reign of terror at Netflix with his recently announced limited series, The Fall of the House of Usher. The drama, which will be based on multiple works written by Edgar Allan Poe, including the 1893 short story of the same name, will feature themes of madness, family, isolation and identity, Deadline is reporting.

Flanagan, who’s mainly known for creating the hit supernatural anthology series, The Haunting, for the streaming service, also created the The Fall of the House of Usher adaptation. The filmmaker will also executive produce the upcoming eight-part series with his Intrepid Pictures partner, Trevor Macy.

Emmy Grinwis and Michael Fimognari will also serve as executive producers on, while Intrepid Pictures’ Melinda Nishioka will co-executive produce, the project.

Flanagan and Fimognari will each direct four episodes of The Fall of the House of Usher.

The series is unrelated to Flanagan’s previous work for Netflix, and is a standalone story. Netflix hasn’t yet announced specific plot points for, or when it will begin streaming, the drama.

The Fall of the House of Usher will be the fifth series to come out of Flanagan and Macy’s first look deal with Netflix under their Intrepid Pictures production banner. The upcoming project follows The Haunting of Hill House; the gothic-romance drama, The Haunting of Bly Manor; the supernatural drama, Midnight Mass; and the upcoming horror-mystery thriller, The Midnight Club.
