New York Japan CineFest (NYJCF), founded by Yasu Suzuki, Kosuke Furukawa and Hiroshi Kono in 2011, made a debut at Asia Society New York in June 2012. NYJCF focuses on independent filmmakers who are committing their full potential to express their voice and vision with the world and has motivation geared up to connect the Asian films and American and world films, shake up the ground in the positive way to raise the spirit.
Any of the selected films by NYJCF have a chance to be screened at our sister film events around the USA and Japan, in cities such as Washington DC, Baltimore, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, NYJCF hosted its first online film festival in November 2020. The 10th NYJCF is scheduled to be held online in June 2021.
