Exclusive Video Interview: Michael Ausiello on Seeing His Life Story on the Big Screen in ‘Spoiler Alert’

Check out more of our video interviews on our YouTube channel.

Michael Ausiello has been writing about television for more than two decades, first as a reporter for TV Guide and now as editor of TVLine. Ausiello has also seen cinematic value in his own life, penning Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies about his romance with Kit Cowan that unfortunately didn’t end in a happy ever after. Now, Spoiler Alert is a feature film from director Michael Showalter, with Emmy winner Jim Parsons playing Ausiello.

I had the chance to speak with Ausiello about being on the other side of the press junket experience and what it feels like to see Parsons portraying him in a movie about his life. He also addressed the fact that his life story has been made into a movie rather than his chosen medium, a TV series.

You can watch the video above, and read below for an official summary and where to watch.

Film summary:

Based on Michael Ausiello’s best-selling memoir “Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies,” the film is a heartwarming, funny and life-affirming story of how Michael and Kit’s relationship is transformed and deepened when one of them falls ill.

Spoiler Alert opens in limited theatrical release on Friday, December 2nd and expands nationwide throughout December.
