Every mission or operation has its share of contingency plans, but it’s not possible to prepare for every single thing that could go wrong. In Syfy’s new series The Ark, a planetary colonization mission is disrupted, and a crew of less experienced officers are forced to deal with unexpected circumstances to remain alive and reach their destination.
I had the chance to speak with stars Christie Burke, Richard Fleeshman, and Reece Ritchie, and showrunners Dean Devlin and Jonathan Glassner about conceiving this near-future show and how not-too-distant its premise might be. We also discussed how the actors might respond in similar situations and the experience of working together to carry the show.

Series summary:
“The Ark” takes place 100 years in the future when planetary colonization missions have begun as a necessity to help secure the survival of the human race. The first of these missions on a spacecraft known as Ark One encounters a catastrophic event causing massive destruction and loss of life.
With more than a year left to go before reaching their target planet, a lack of life-sustaining supplies and loss of leadership, the remaining crew must become the best versions of themselves to stay on course and survive.
