An Exclusive Video Interview: Christina Ricci Talks Life After Death on Her Latest Outing, ‘Here After’

Actress Christina Ricci has been acting for three decades and has played a variety of roles over the course of her career. Some may recognize her from The Addams Family or Casper, parts she took on when she was a child, while others have observed her more recent work playing real-life people like Lizzie Borden and Zelda Fitzgerald in television series, with plenty more in between.

For her latest film, Here After, Ricci stars opposite theater actor Andy Karl as a gatekeeper of sorts who informs the recently-deceased Michael (Andy Karl) that he can’t move on to whatever comes next until he finds a soulmate. Ricci describes her as a “real bureaucrat who just loves rules.”

I had the chance to speak with Ricci about Here After, many of her past works, and a little preview of what’s coming next with Showtime’s Yellowjackets and The Matrix 4. You can watch the video below, along with an official summary and where to watch.

Film summary:

A struggling actor, Michael, dies right after a bad breakup, awakening to a singles Purgatory where he must find his soul mate in order to cross over to the other side. With limited time to find true love among other recently deceased single New Yorkers, Michael must navigate the new customs of a ghostly dating life…as if dating in New York wasn’t hard enough already. When he meets the woman of his dreams, who happens to be alive, Michael must figure out how to cheat the system to cross over with her.

Here’s the trailer for the film:

Here After opens at Cinema Village in NY and on demand this Friday, July 23rd.
