‘Joker’ Sequel Has a Script, Reveals Director Todd Phillips

Joker 2 production is officially underway as director Todd Phillips posted a photo of the finished script and a picture of star Joaquin Phoenix reading it. Written by Phillips and Scott Silver, the latest edition of the script was made on May 18, 2022. The script calls the film Joker: Folie à Deux, which is a reference to the shared delusional disorder of the same name. 

Original film, “Joker” was also written by Todd and Scott, focused on a mentally troubled stand-up comedian Arthur Fleck embarks on a downward spiral that leads to the creation of an iconic villain, Joker played by Joaquin Phoenix, the film went on receiving two Academy Awards in 2020. This bold take on the classic villain earned over $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

Besides the Joker played by Joaquin Phoenix, they gathered quite an impressive cast, Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Bill Camp (Red Sparrow, Molly’s Game), Frances Conroy (American Horror Story), Brett Cullen (Narcos), Glenn Fleshler (Barry), Douglas Hodge (Penny Dreadful), Marc Maron (GLOW), Josh Pais (Motherless Brooklyn), and Shea Whigham (First Man).
