Alison Brie will play the role of the villainous Evil-Lyn in Masters of the Universe, the upcoming live-action production by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films.

Brie, who had previously starred in Community and GLOW, will join a cast that already includes Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man and Camila Merides as Teela, the captain of the royal guard. Brie has most recently been seen in Apples Never Fall, a limited-series thriller on Peacock.The character of Evil-Lyn achieves her nefarious aims by practicing dark magic using a wand equipped with a crystal orb. Lena Headey had voiced Evil-Lyn in an animated sequel series directed by Kevin Smith.

Travis Knight will be directing the upcoming live-action film from a screenplay by Chris Butler that highlights the exploits of Prince Adam of Eternia, who defends  Eternia and Castle Grayskull with the superhuman powers he acquires via a Power Sword that changes him into the He-Man character. David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee had worked on an earlier draft of the script.

The 42-year-old Alison Brie made her breakthrough role portraying Trudy Campbell in the dramatic series Mad Men, which ran from 2007 to 2015, earning her an award from the Screen Actors Guild. From 2009 to 2015, she also played the role of Annie Edison in the sitcom Community and voiced the part of Diane Nguyen in the BoJack Horseman animated comedy series from 2014 to 2020. Her role as Ruth Wilder in the dramedy series GLOW (2017-2019) won Brie two Golden Globe nominations and two Critics’ Choice nominations.

Originally an animated series when it was released in 1983, Masters of the Universe had been made into a live-action movie in 1987. The upcoming production, which has been in development for twenty years or so, including stints at Sony and Netflix, will be released worldwide on June 5, 2026.
