Actor Chris Rock revealed on Twitter earlier this week that he has contracted COVID-19, according to CBS News. The message that he shared was short and simple: “Hey guys I just found out I have COVID, trust me you don’t want this. Get vaccinated.” In May, Rock went on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and said that he had been vaccinated.

“I’m vaccinated. I’m two shots Rock. That’s what they call me. I got Johnson & Johnson.” He also shared then that he had wanted to get the vaccine as quickly as possible, joking that he skipped the line. “I didn’t care. I used my celebrity. I didn’t care. I was like, ‘Hey, step aside, Betty White.’ I was like Billy Zane on the Titanic. Leo died, Billy Zane lived to see another day. I don’t wanna be Leo at the bottom of the ocean!” Rock is the latest actor to contract COVID-19 after being fully vaccinated, following other recent reported cases including Hilary Duff and Melissa Joan Hart.

Rock’s emphasis on the importance of getting vaccinated stands in stark contrast to the disinformation being disseminated by other celebrities, including rapper Nicki Minaj, who promoted a false claim that the vaccine leads to swollen testicles and impotence. As part of its campaign against this kind of misinformation, the White House reached out publicly to have Minaj speak with administration doctors who could show her more reliable scientific studies.
