Nominees for the 79th Annual Golden Globe Awards were announced this morning. There was some doubt that the embattled Hollywood Foreign Press Association would hand out its prizes again this year after multiple reports about the lack of diversity among the organization’s members and luxury trips for members paid for by projects that ended up being recognized. After announcing diversity overhauls in May, major Hollywood players seemed unimpressed, and new bylaws were approved in August. It still remains to be seen how much – if at all – nominated performers, projects, and studios will participate in the awards show.
Snoop Dogg announced the nominees along with HFPA President Helen Hoehne. Belfast and The Power of the Dog led the film nominations with seven mentions each. On the TV side, Succession scored five nominations, followed closely by Ted Lasso and The Morning Show with four apiece. Foreign-language series Squid Game and Lupin also made showings. See the list of all the nominees below and browse each category on the Golden Globes website.
