Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike has been cast in Promising Young Woman filmmaker Emerald Fennell‘s upcoming second feature, Saltburn, Deadline is reporting. Announcements about the movie’s supporting cast are expected to be made soon, as the project is scheduled to begin shooting later this year.
Little is known about Saltburn, including what Pike’s role will be, but the story will reportedly follow a grand, aristocratic English family. Fennell is familiar with that genre, as her most well-known project as an actress is her Emmy Award-nominated portrayal of Camilla Parker Bowles in the fourth season of The Crown.

Fennell has also starred in such movies as Anna Karenina, The Danish Girl and Pan. She’s most recently joined the cast of Barbie, which has been shooting in the U.K., and is being helmed by Greta Gerwig. The romantic comedy features Margot Robbie, who also produced Promising Young Woman, in the titular role of the famous Marvel toy.
Fennell also wrote the book for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical production of Cinderella, which is currently playing at London’s Gillian Lynne Theatre. On television, she’s also known for receiving her first two Emmy Award nominations in 2019 for pennining and executive producing the acclaimed BBC spy thriller, Killing Eve.
Pike has also had an impressive acting career, having starred in multiple high-profile films over the past two decades, including Die Another Day, Pride & Prejudice and A Private War. She also appeared in Netflix’s acclaimed thriller, I Care a Lot, for which she won the Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy Golden Globe last year.
Pike’s most well-known role is of the eponymous character in Gone Girl, for which she was nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award in 2015. The performer currently stars as Moiraine Damodred on the Prime Video fantasy series, Wheel of Time.
