Shun Oguri, Lily James, and WWE star Liv Morgan, are all set to be the stars of famed Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike’s new film “Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo” at NEON. The deal was negotiated by Neon’s Sarah Colvin, VP of Acquisitions, and Paula Paizes from Pressman Film and Recorded Picture Company’s Ivan Kelava on behalf of the filmmakers.

Neon will be the film’s distributor in North America and representing international sales rights at Cannes later this month, as production on the U.S.-Japan co-production kicks off this month.

This story features Oguri, who is a corrupt gambler on the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Force and was written by Daisuke Tengan, who collaborated with Miike on “Audition” and “13 Assassins“.

After James, an enigmatic FBI agent, arrives in the city to investigate the disappearance of a politician’s daughter (Morgan), he is thrown into a complicated case, a deviant killer operating in the Yakuza underworld appears to be keeping an eye on their movements.

Here’s the Miike says in a statement:“A team of incredibly talented actors and crew has gathered in Tokyo. Now. I’m about to throw a fastball straight down the middle of your strike zone – no tricks, no gimmicks. I’m confident we are about to break through every limit, to create unforgettable entertainment. Get ready for the ride with us.”

Jeremy Thomas, Sam Pressman, Naoaki Kitajima and Misako Saka produce. The third “Bad Lieutenant” feature will come after the original directed by Abel Ferrara and Nic Cage’s “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans” in 2009, directed by Werner Herzog.

Takashi Miike has made over 100 feature films and built a filmography that has become a cult favorite in the West. He made films like “Audition“, “The Yakuza trilogy“, “Dead Or Alive“, and thriller “Ichi The Killer“, and his 100th film is “Blade of the Immortal”.
