Critic Chris Stuckmann, whose YouTube channel boasts 1.93 million subscribers, is making a major upgrade for his next video. Stuckmann has been hired by Paper Street Pictures to direct Shelby Oaks, a horror film about missing paranormal investigators, according to Deadline. Though it’s based on a fictional team called The Paranormal Paranoids, there has been much speculation about it being real with the recent release of found footage videos, including one that showed a member being abducted. This project is one of multiple horror scripts that Stuckmann, who has signed with Gotham Group, currently has.

Paper Street’s recent projects include The Pale Door and Scare Package, and next up for the production company are The Requin, with Alicia Silverstone, and Old Man, with Stephen Lang. Production on Shelby Oaks is scheduled to begin later this year in Ohio.

Koontz describes the genesis of this film, explaining that “I had been looking for the right project to partner with Chris on for a while, and when I fell down the rabbit hole of this scary little story, quickly emerging right in Chris’ backyard of Ohio, with an intriguing and quickly growing YouTube element baked in, I knew we had to act fast on the perfect vehicle to launch Chris as a feature filmmaker. The videos and mystery are scary enough, but the ideas we have for where this can go are truly frightening.”

Stuckmann expressed his excitement about the project, stating that “It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to finally get a film off the ground and when Aaron and I began discussing the potential of this story we immediately jumped at it. There is a reason so many of my fellow YouTubers are talking about this. Shelby Oaks is going to be something fresh yet deeply unnerving.”
