Iñaki Godoy’s Working on His Japanese in One Piece Season 2

It’s been over a month since the announcement of Iñaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy), Mackenyu (Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji) reunited at Cape Town, South Africa, to start  the second season of One Piece live action, the showrunners Joe Tracz & Matt Owens, Netflix, Tomorrow Studios, and publisher Shueisha are working hard to take on author Eiichiro Oda’s manga One Piece.

Taking that into consideration, our live-action Monkey D. Luffy has delivered a special message. To commemorate the last weekend where ‘One Piece Day’ celebrated around the world, Godoy has some celebratory words to offer anime, manga, and streaming series fans, particularly those who speak Japanese.

It appears that Godoy has fulfilled their promise and has been devoted to learning the language while filming the season. With the expectation of visiting Japan and engaging with the fans in Japanese when it comes to promoting the new season.

Becky Clements, the president of Tomorrow Studios, released important production and casting updates for the second season in July. In terms of production, Clements notes that filming set will run into December. As for when the season will be completely finished and ready to hit screens, fans are going to have to be patient. and she also address that “This is a very VFX-heavy year, so it’s going to be a while. We are a long time out.”

Clement confirms multiple seasons still the plan, “We have those plans. Matt Owens has it in his head, it’s just a matter of our partners who’ve been amazing, wanting to keep moving forward, but we are creatively prepared, I’ll say that.”

Good news/bad news regarding Jamie Lee Curtis & Doctor Kureha: Clements reveals that they couldn’t cast Jamie Lee Curtis for Season 2. “She [Jamie Lee Curtis] loves the show. She has too many films and TV shows that she’s going into production on so our production dates aren’t going to work. She definitely wanted to do it but she’s got deals in first position, and it just became complicated.”

But it seems that they locked in someone else for the role,  Clement mentioned “that “We have found an amazing person.”
