Following yesterday’s Cinema Con premiere, Universal Pictures has released the initial trailer for Blumhouse’s “M3GAN 2.0“, which is the prequel to the 2023 thriller concerning an artificial intelligence doll.
The original creative team, which included filmmaker Gerard Johnstone as director, James Wan and Jason Blum as producers, returns for a more comedic atmosphere this time around.
It has been two years since “M3GAN” went rogue and went on a murderous rampage, which led to its destruction. Gemma (Allison Williams), the creator of M3GAN, has become a prominent author and advocate for government oversight of artificial intelligence, but Cady, Gemma’s niece, who is now 14, is rebelling against Gemma’s overprotective rules as she becomes a teenager.
A powerful defense contractor has stolen and misappropriated the underlying technology for M3GAN, resulting in the creation of a lethally infiltrated spy called Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno).
As Amelia becomes more self-aware, she becomes less interested in taking orders from humans. Soon after, Gemma realizes that the only option is to revive M3GAN (Amie Donald, voiced by Jenna Davis) and upgrade her into a more fast, powerful, and lethal version of herself.
Brian Jordan Alvarez and Jen Van Epps are among the cast members who return, along with Aristotle Athari, Timm Sharp, and Jemaine Clement. On June 27th, the film will start playing in cinemas.
