The eighth Mission: Impossible movie by Tom Cruise has finally received its title and the first trailer.
The officially title for latest outing is, Mission : Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which was previously intended to be the sequel to 2023’s Mission : Impossible : Dead Reckoning. It will be released on May 23, 2025. The film was initially planned for 2022, but it was delayed several times because of the pandemic and strike by SAG-AFTRA actors.
Cruise scuba dives and explores a wrecked submarine in the action-packed trailer, while also flying and falling out of a biplane, and doing a lot of running. Following the success of Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Angela Batsett has returned as CIA Director Erika Sloane.
Ethan Hunt, played by Cruise in Dead Reckoning, faces a dangerous AI program called The Entity that appears to anticipate his every move and could lead to catastrophe if it falls into the wrong hands. Ethan escapes a devastating train crash at the end of the movie, where he realizes that the Entity is on an old Russian submarine, but an enemy from his past, Gabriel (Esai Morales), is also on the trail.
The returning cast members are Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Henry Czerny, Greg Tarzan Davis, Mariela Garriga and Indira Varma.
