Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first full trailer for its upcoming musical film “The Smurf Movie,” which features a starry cast that includes Rihanna as the voice of Smurfette.

Along with starring, Rihanna is producing the Paramount Animation production. She also penned original songs for the film. “I tried to get the Papa Smurf role, but it didn’t work out,” Rihanna joked back in 2023 to tease the new film at the annual exhibitor event CinemaCon.

Here’s the synopsis : When Papa Smurf (John Goodman) is mysteriously taken by evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel, Smurfette (Rihanna) leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save him. With the help of new friends, the Smurfs must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe.

Chris Miller and Matt Landon are the film’s directors, while Pam Brady wrote the screenplay.

SMURFS features an all-star voice cast including Rihanna, James Corden, Nick Offerman, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña with Kurt Russell and John Goodman.
