Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein” reigned supreme in 2025, but “The Bride” takes center stage in 2026.

Warner Brothers has dropped a new trailer for Maggie Gyllenhaal’s second directorial venture, which revisits “The Bride of Frankenstein” with a punk rock twist and a renowned cast featuring Jessie Buckley as the bride and Christian Bale as Frankenstein’s creature, was always set to be one of the most anticipated films of 2017.

In 1930s Chicago, groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious brings a murdered young woman back to life to be a companion for Frankenstein’s monster. What happens next is beyond what either of them could ever have imagined.

The song in the background is “Everybody Scream” by Florence + the Machine, which feels exactly in line with the tone being conveyed here.

The 1930s setting is present in the production design, but Buckley’s outlaw heroine is a timeless classic slasher heroine. She says, ‘The dead have something to say, and I am saying it!’
