Benicio Del Toro and Mia Threapleton portray a complex father-daughter duo in the trailer for Wes Anderson’s latest feature, “The Phoenician Scheme.”
The movie’s plot is still unknown, but Benicio Del Toro portrays Zsa-Zsa Korda, one of Europe’s richest men who earned his money through arms and aviation. After surviving his sixth plane crash, he decides to give his estate to his nun daughter (Mia Threapleton).
Hollywood’s most glamorous rosters continue to include the cast of Wes Anderson players. The director always has a growing number of familiar faces ready to join his meticulously-crafted worlds, such as Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, and Tilda Swinton, and always adds new faces to it.
The film also stars, Michael Cera as tutor Bjorn; Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Richard Ayoade, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend, Hope Davis.
Anderson will be responsible for writing and directing the film, with Roman Coppola serving as a co-writer. Anderson produced the film via American Empirical Pictures, with Jeremy Dawson and John Peet, as well as Steven Rales via Indian Paintbrush. Focus Features distributes the film and was previously behind the distribution of Anderson’s “Asteroid City” and “Moonrise Kingdom.”
Anderson’s most recent creation was in 2023 with the film, “Asteroid City” and last year with the collection “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Three More“.
The film will have a limited release May 30 and expand wider June 6.
