Paramount Pictures has unveiled a new trailer for a highly anticipated, “Whiplash” and “La La Land” Director Damien Chazelle’s latest outing, “Babylon.” The trailer gives us their first look at the various types of characters on the rise in the film industry, set during the transitional period in Hollywood industry when they changed their landscape from silent movies to talkies.
“BABYLON” is an original epic set in 1920s Los Angeles led by Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Diego Calva, with an ensemble cast including Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li and Jean Smart.
A tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess, it traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood.
Pitt plays a silent film star during the time, and Robbie is a Roaring ’20s icon. As Hollywood shifts around them, they are forced to grapple with an evolving industry.
It’s been a long time coming for Chazelle who said in a recent interview with Vanity Fair that he has sat on this idea ever since he moved to Los Angeles 15 years ago.
He finally got the chance to tackle his passion project after completing his last film, “The First Man” back in 2018, his love letter to Hollywood Industry shed the light on the twilight of the silent era.
“Babylon” premieres December 25 with a limited release, followed by a wide release January 6, 2023.
