Tom Cruise is set to star in the upcoming comedy film titled “Digger“, which is being helmed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, who directed ‘Birdman’ and ‘The Revenant’.

The name appears to be that of the main character being played by Tom Cruise, who is seen in the teaser with a shovel, a striking hairstyle, and a pair of wild shorts as he dances around.

The role of Cruise is that of a powerful man, who is trying to persuade the world that he is its savior – before the catastrophic consequences of his own actions result in widespread destruction.

The film, which was shot on 35mm VistaVision with Emmanuel Lubezki as the cinematographer, features the actors Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, and Jesse Plemons.

Inarritu and Nicolás Giacobone co-wrote the screenplay, which marked his debut in English-language films in a decade.

“Digger” will screen only in cinemas in October.
