Blanck Mass | Composer

As Blanck Mass, Benjamin John Power takes the anthemic melodies and heroic doses of noise he pioneered with Fuck Buttons in directions that are sometimes more immediate but always thought-provoking. In 2012, “Sundowner” soundtracked the London Olympics Opening Ceremony. The song was chosen by Underworld’s Rick Smith and performed by London’s Symphony Orchestra to 900 million people worldwide. Whether railing against political injustice on 2017’s “World Eater” or exploring the connection between grief and consumerism on 2019’s “Animated Violence Mild,” Power’s work as Blanck Mass is, above all, musically and emotionally intense.

While preparing for Ted K, Lindsay spent countless hours pouring over FBI file photos, including Kaczynski’s own journals, and working with the locals in Lincoln, Montana to achieve a level of authenticity for the story that is hard to decipher the real from the recreated. Lindsay transplanted some of Kaczynski’s own rhubarb from his original garden plot and has transplanted it through several moves and continues to grow it each year in her own garden plot. Lindsay’s now 2 1⁄2 year old daughter was both conceived and brought into this world during the filming of Ted K, leaving her with an entirely separate fondness for the film that literally changed her life.
