Crunchyroll has announced that Japanese popular band Radwimps will score director Makoto Shinkai’s latest animation, “Suzume(“Suzume no Tojimari).”
Shinkai made an incredible collaboration with Radwimps ever since 2016, first they teamed up for “Your Name” and the second time in 2019 for “Weathering With You.” Their songs became very vital to express the character’s feeling, and a significant component of Shinkai’s films.
And this time, Shinkai also collaborated with composer Kazuma Jinnouchi, previously working on major franchises like “Ultraman,” “Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045.”
Yojiro Noda, a lead vocalist of Radwimps left the comment about this exciting news, “I first received the offer around the spring of 2020. I received the script at the exact time when Japan was plunged into confusion and inconvenience for more than two years. I remember thinking hard about what I could do, and the amount of experience I gained from collaborating with Mr. Jinnai, who has been creating music for movies and games for many years. He gave me a new perspective. I want to work with him more in the future, and I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of creative work we can do together.”
On the other hand, “After I finished writing the first draft of the script for “Suzume”, I sent it to Yojiro without hesitation. I felt that the film needed a distinctly different music than the previous two films, and I wanted to give the audience a much more vivid musical experience.
I thought that RADWIMPS would help me find a way to do that” said Shinkai.
“Suzume” is a modern action adventure road story where a 17-year-old girl named Suzume helps a mysterious young man close doors from the outer side that are releasing disasters all over in Japan.
“Suzume” is set to release in Japan on Nov. 11th, 2022. The movie is also getting adapted into a novel, with Shinkai himself penning the work. The novel will be released in Japan on August 24, 2022.
